Volunteer Lake Monitoring
Our lakes and rivers are arguably the most important natural resources to Minnesotans!
Monitoring water quality over time allows for assessment of current conditions + changes over time. Water quality data is used to prioritize Minnesota lakes for protection + restoration efforts, and to inform decision makers at the local, county, and state level.
ISO: Volunteers!
We are in need of volunteer water monitors for the following Beltrami County lakes:
-
Andrusia
-
Balm
-
Bemidji
-
Big
-
Wolf
-
Clearwater
-
Grant
-
Julia
-
Kitchi
-
Long (West)
-
Moose
-
Pimushe
As a Volunteer Water Monitor, you'll be trained on sampling + monitoring procedures, and provided all necessary equipment. Each month of the sampling season, a water sample + measurements are taken from the same point in a given lake, and dropped off (or picked up!) to be tested by RMB Labs. The sampling season runs from May through September.
If you are interested in volunteering your time + adding to valuable water quality data, please contact us today!
