The Allegheny (Smooth) Serviceberry is a deciduous tree or shrub that reaches 15 to 25 feet tall in maturity (or up to 40 feet in the wild). The Serviceberry prefers well-drained, acidic, loamy soil, but will tolerate a range of soil types. Allegheny Serviceberry can be used as a small shade tree, as shrub in borders and hedges, or in a woodland setting. It is medium to fast-growing, blooming in April-May.
