Salix Exigua
Sandbar willow is intolerant of shade. It propagates by root suckers, so it has a tendency to spread. Average height of sandbar willow is 10 to 15 feet tall. It grows in poorly drained, moist and well drained soil. It has good wildlife value, and grows very fast. It tolerates flooding, and is excellent for shoreline stabilization. Sandbar Willow provides superior food source for many wildlife species. Willow prefers streambank and other wet areas. Sandbar willow will rapidly colonize disturbed sites, which makes it very beneficial for shoreline and streambank erosion control. It can grow into a shrub or small tree up to 15 feet tall.
