Juneberry (Serviceberry)
Amelanchier alnifolia
Juneberry is moderately shade tolerant, and grows to a height of 6 to 8 feet. It tends to sucker, which will often form a thicket. It grows in moist to well-drained soils. It typically grows moderately. It has good to very good wildlife value. The fruits are attractive to wildlife and the edible berries can be used for jams, jellies and pies if you can beat the birds to them.
