Gray Dogwood is shade tolerant. It suckers, so is will often spread. It grows to an average height of 6 to 10 feet. It prefers poorly-drained to well-drained soil. It has very good wildlife value, and grows moderately. It has attractive white flowers and fruit for birds. It is a good choice for wildlife plantings and uplands. It is highly susceptible to deer browse, and protective measures should be taken in areas of high deer population.
