Cotoneaster (Peking)
Cotoneaster acutifolius

Cotoneaster is shade intolerant, lives from 30 to 40 years, and grows to average  heights of 6 to 8 feet.  It grows in medium to sandy well-drained soil.  Growth rate is moderate and wildlife value is good.  It is tolerant of dry soils, makes a formal hedge, and fall colors are yellow to red.  It is less susceptible to deer browse than many shrubs.
