Yellow Birch
Betula alleghaniensis

This is the most shade tolerant birch tree.  It prefers moist to wet soil, has good wildlife value, and grows moderately fast to fast.  The bark is bronze to yellowish brown.  Average life span is about 150 years, and it grows to a height of 50 to 70 feet.
