White Spruce
Picea glauca

White Spruce is shade tolerant.  It lives an average of 100 to 200  years.  It reaches heights of 40 to 80 feet.  It prefers medium to heavy, well drained soil.  It has excellent wildlife value, and grows moderately fast.   White spruce is an excellent all-around tree.  It is a superior windbreak tree, and is quite adaptable.  It is less susceptible to deer browse than many conifers.
