Red Maple
Acer rubrum

Red Maple is moderately tolerant of shade.  It lives 70-80 years and grows 50-70 feet.  It prefers well-drained to moderately well-drained soils.  It provides very good wildlife value and grows moderately fast to fast.  It has beautiful fall foliage, is a very handsome shade tree, but is susceptible to sunscald.  It is highly susceptible to deer browse, and protective measures should be taken in areas of high deer population.
