Pin Cherry
Prunus pennsylvanica

Pin Cherry is shade intolerant, and has a very long life span. Average  height is about 20 to 30 feet.  It grows in moist to well-drained soil.  It typically grows moderately fast to fast.  It may sucker.  It is a small, winter-hardy tree that requires full-sun and is typically found along sunny-dry edges of forest openings.  In the fall, it produces orange colored fruit that attracts birds.  A native to the area, its fruit is high wildlife-value because it contains many vitamins and minerals.  It is less susceptible to deer browse than many shrubs.
