Norway (Red) Pine Norway Pine is very shade intolerant. It lives an average of 100 to 300 years. It reaches heights of 60 to 80 feet. It prefers sandy, well drained soil. It has fair wildlife value, and grows moderate to fast. Norway pine is an excellent timber tree, it is drought tolerant, and has scaly reddish brown bark. It is the Minnesota state tree.
