The North Central Minnesota SWCD's Joint Powers Board (JPB) engineering staff shares facilities with the Beltrami SWCD.  Staff consists of Jon Hodgson, JPB Engineer and Mark Dose, Engineering Intern.  They provide engineering assistance to and through the Soil and Water Districts in North Central Minnesota, including the counties of Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, and Wadena.

Engineering assistance is available for a small fee through the JPB for SWCD projects that include eligible best management practices (BMPs) that protect and conserve water and soil resources.  Assistance available includes a wide range of technical assistance and leadership for evaluation, design and construction of eligible BMPs.  BMPs that are effective in controlling surface and ground water pollutants and are appropriate for engineering assistance include: 

• agricultural waste management systems
• runoff management systems
• streambank and lakeshore protection
• large wetland developments
• terraces
• water and sediment control basins
